Jakarta, Sept. 10 -- Surgeons at Cipto Mangunkusumo National Central General Hospital (RSCM) performed Indonesia's first remote gynecologic surgery using telerobotic technology, connecting Jakarta and Bali across more than 1,000 kilometers.

The procedure was performed at RSCM Kencana Operating Room in Jakarta and broadcast live to the APAGE and IGES annual meetings at Jimbaran Convention Center in Bali.

Speaking in Jakarta on Thursday, RSCM Planning and Service Strategy Development Director Bobi Prabowo said the breakthrough advances the hospital's use of technology, artificial intelligence and telemedicine in surgical care.
