Jakarta, July 26 -- Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai has clarified that the data transfer clause in the newly announced Indonesia-United States reciprocal trade agreement framework will not infringe on human rights.
He emphasized that as long as data transfers comply with Indonesian regulations, they will not run counter to any human rights principles.
"The clause clearly states that the data transfer must comply with Indonesian law - in this case, the Personal Data Protection Law," he pointed out in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
The minister assured the public that the Indonesian government will guarantee that transfers of data are carried out in a careful, responsible, and secure manner.
