Jakarta, Oct. 2 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower on Tuesday called on companies to carry out recruitment fairly, objectively, and without discrimination, following repeated findings of hiring practices based on irrelevant requirements.
Officials said some employers had imposed conditions unrelated to job skills, such as height and weight, or demanded excessive personal data, including selfies with ID cards.
Sunardi Manampiar Sinaga, head of the ministry's public relations bureau, stressed that every citizen has the right to employment and a decent livelihood. "Recruitment must be objective, fair, and non-discriminatory," he said.
