Jakarta, Sept. 19 -- Indonesia will consider the differing conditions of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) when enforcing mandatory halal certification, MSMEs Minister Maman Abdurrahman said on Saturday.

Abdurrahman said smaller businesses face limitations that require consideration, adding that those which have not completed certification would not necessarily be excluded from the process.

He said medium- and large-scale businesses generally have stronger capital and greater familiarity with regulations, while micro and small businesses face greater constraints.

The government would therefore consider different approaches when enforcing the certification requirement, Abdurrahman said, without elaborating on specific measures...
