Jakarta, Sept. 25 -- Indonesia's Industry Ministry of is expanding halal-certification support for small industrial businesses as it seeks to strengthen the competitiveness of its growing halal industry and expand access to domestic and global markets.

The ministry operates 22 halal inspection bodies, including 15 primary bodies with national and international coverage, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in a statement confirmed here Friday.

The ministry also oversees four halal-product facilitation bodies, five halal training institutes and three professional certification bodies for halal-industry professionals across Indonesia.
