Jakarta, Aug. 28 -- Indonesia's forest recovery task force has reclaimed more than 3.3 million hectares of land used illegally for palm oil plantations as of August, a senior official said on Thursday.

Febrie Adriansyah, head of the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) and Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, said 915,206 hectares have been handed over to government ministries.

Of that, around 833,000 hectares were allocated to state-owned agribusiness firm PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero), while 81,793 hectares within Tesso Nilo National Park have been reforested.

The remaining 2.39 million hectares are under the task force's control and pending administrative transfer.
