Jayapura, Aug. 25 -- Indonesia's Transport Safety Agency (KNKT) is scheduled to arrive in Ilaga Subdistrict, Puncak District, on Tuesday to investigate a cargo plane fire involving Amole Air at Aminggaru Airport in Central Papua, police said.

The Amole Air Grand Caravan aircraft, registered as PK-PPI, caught fire on Monday after crashing into a military post shortly after landing, Puncak Police Chief Commissioner Mardi Marpaung said.

Speaking to ANTARA in a phone interview from Jayapura, the capital of Papua Province, he said that initial reports suggest the plane lost balance while landing and struck a Kopasgat (the Indonesian Air Force's Rapid Force Corps) checkpoint near the runway.
