Jakarta, Aug. 14 -- President Prabowo Subianto has stressed that economic growth and investment are not the ultimate goals of development, but rather instruments for improving public welfare.

"For me, growth and investment are not the ultimate goals. Our goal is the welfare of our people," Prabowo said in his State of the Nation Address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the parliament complex here on Friday.

He said high economic growth and investment figures would be meaningless if their benefits could not be enjoyed by the Indonesian people.
