Jakarta, Feb. 13 -- President Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia's Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is expected to generate 1.5 million jobs nationwide through its kitchens, combining nutrition support with employment opportunities.
"MBG alone has created jobs for more than 1 million people. Eventually, it will create 1.5 million jobs," Prabowo said Friday at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 event in Jakarta.
The president said the program improves nutrition while creating jobs via Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs), also called MBG kitchens, spread across the country.
Police-managed SPPGs were inaugurated Friday morning, with over 1,100 units expected in total, Prabowo said.
