Indonesia, Oct. 6 -- President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the Indonesian government's commitment to eradicating illegal mining to protect the nation's natural resources.
"We must not be afraid to confront smuggling, illegal mining, and all related crimes," President Prabowo stated during an inspection and handover of state-confiscated assets in Bangka Belitung on Monday.
His working visit to the Bangka Belitung Islands was aimed at overseeing the transfer of assets seized from private companies found to have violated the law within the operational area of state-owned tin miner PT Timah.
"The owners of these companies have been prosecuted, and the Attorney General's Office has seized six tin smelters in the province," he said.
