Jakarta, Aug. 26 -- President Prabowo Subianto has instructed his Cabinet to complete the waste-to-energy (WtE) program within 18 months as part of efforts to address Indonesia's waste management challenges.

The directive was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday.

Hasan explained that the project contract has been signed and now awaits a presidential regulation, which is expected to be issued within one to two days.

He noted that the administrative process was originally projected to take six months, while construction is estimated to require 18 months.
