Jakarta, March 29 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has arrived in Tokyo for his inaugural official state visit to Japan as head of state, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation across key sectors.

The Presidential Secretariat said in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday night that the president and his limited entourage landed at Haneda Airport at 7:10 p.m. local time.

Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Japan's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii, Chief of Protocol Tadayuki Miyashita, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, and Indonesia's defense attache.

Following the reception, he retired to his hotel for the night.
