Jakarta, May 9 -- Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto said the government will strengthen telecommunications in remote regions, including Miangas Island, by providing internet access, devices and infrastructure support to improve connectivity and public services.

"We will also provide school supplies and strengthen the network so mobile phones can operate here," he said during a community dialogue at Talaud State Vocational High School 2 on Saturday.

The president called in Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid, who accompanied him during the visit to Indonesia's northernmost island.

He said the ministry will provide mobile phones and Starlink internet services to improve communication access in remote regions.
