Prabowo urges state banks to expand public impact
Jakarta, June 19 -- President Prabowo Subianto has urged the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara) to look beyond profit generation and strengthen its contribution to society by expanding access to financial services and economic opportunities.
Himbara comprises Indonesia's major state-owned lenders: Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI).
Speaking after a four-hour meeting at the Presidential Palace on Thursday evening, Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani said the President delivered the firm directive during discussions with the boards of directors and commissioners of the state-owned banks.
