Jakarta, Oct. 29 -- Indonesia's CATL-Antam electric-vehicle battery plant has begun production and is set to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto, Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition Bahlil Lahadalia said.

The plant began production more than a year after Prabowo broke ground on the project, Bahlil said.

"It will be inaugurated soon because the plant has begun production," Bahlil said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.

He said he had reported the plant's readiness to Prabowo. The facility will expand Indonesia's electric-vehicle battery manufacturing capacity.
