Jakarta, March 20 -- President Prabowo Subianto has ordered an acceleration in the conversion of diesel-powered power plants (PLTD) to solar power plants (PLTS) amid high global oil prices.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said in Jakarta on Thursday (March 19) that the policy must be promptly assessed and implemented.

"Due to high oil prices, the president has instructed us to immediately assess and implement the conversion of diesel power plants to solar power," he said.

Hartarto added that Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, has been assigned to handle issues related to diesel-powered plants.
