Jakarta, Aug. 17 -- President Prabowo Subianto made his debut as the leader of the Flag Ceremony for the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence on Sunday at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The President wore traditional national attire consisting of an ivory top and matching trousers, paired with a maroon and gold songket cloth. He also wore a black peci (traditional Indonesian cap) and a jasmine garland around his neck.

Before the ceremony, the Indonesian heirloom flag and the Proclamation Text arrived after being paraded from the National Monument to the Merdeka Palace in a carriage.
