Palu, C Sulawesi, Aug. 18 -- Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has announced the deployment of a rapid response team to Poso, Central Sulawesi, following Sunday's powerful earthquake that claimed one life and injured dozens.

In a statement issued Monday, BNPB spokesperson Abdul Muhari said the team is assisting local authorities with emergency response and coordination efforts.

Muhari also confirmed that the agency would deliver initial aid packages, including ready-to-eat meals, family tents, hygiene kits, blankets, and mattresses, to support those affected by the magnitude-5.8 quake.
