Kupang, Aug. 19 -- Local police have issued a warning to residents of Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara, against hunting in Timor Leste territory after a local resident was fatally shot.

"We urge everyone not to cross into Timor Leste for hunting through unofficial routes, as it poses serious security and legal risks," said Belu Police Chief AKBP I Gede Eka Putra Astawa.

The warning follows the death of a 33-year-old resident, identified as ATB, who was allegedly shot while hunting across the border on Sunday, August 7.

According to a police report, ATB and around 20 others had entered Timor Leste to hunt. Near midnight, witnesses heard six gunshots, prompting the group to flee. The victim's body was found the following day.
