Nabire, C Papua, April 16 -- Central Papua police said additional security personnel deployed to Dogiyai will be evaluated weekly to ensure effective post-conflict stabilization following unrest triggered by a police officer's killing.

Deputy Central Papua Police Chief Senior Commissioner Gustav R. Urbinas said Wednesday the evaluation would be conducted during the first month to determine future security strategies in the district.

"We expect the additional personnel in Dogiyai to help ensure security going forward. This will be assessed through the first month," Urbinas said.

He stressed the reinforcement should not be temporary but capable of maintaining long-term stability to prevent renewed disturbances.
