Jakarta, Aug. 7 -- The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police seized 996 guns from a private school in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, and summoned the former chair of the school's foundation, identified by the initials IW, for questioning.

"We have summoned IW for questioning as part of our investigation into the ownership, permits, storage location, and purpose of keeping the weapons," police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto told the reporters in Jakarta on Friday.

He said the investigators believe IW may have information relevant to the case, given their former leadership role in the school's foundation.

Budi added that the guns were first discovered by the school's new management while clearing out a storage room.
