Pertamina tanker rescues 16 after ship sinks in Java Sea
Jakarta, Sept. 13 -- MT Mauhau, a tanker operated by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, helped rescue passengers from the KMP Virgo Transport 08 after the passenger and roll-on roll-off (roro) ship sank in the Java Sea on Sunday.
The MT Mauhau, sailing from Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, to Tuban, East Java, received information about the incident via VHF radio.
"After learning that a vessel had sunk near its route, the MT Mauhau's captain and crew immediately responded by heading to the site and helping evacuate the victims," PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Vice President of Corporate Communication, Kitty Andhora, said in Jakarta on Sunday.
