Jayapura, June 23 -- Indonesia will renovate about 22,000 houses across Papua in 2026 under its Home Renovation Program, aiming to reduce the number of uninhabitable homes, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said.

Speaking in Jayapura on Tuesday, Karnavian said the program is part of government efforts to improve housing conditions in both urban and remote communities.

The initiative will cover areas across Papua, including border regions, coastal communities and cities.

Karnavian said he inspected renovation projects in the border village of Mosso on June 21 and in the urban area of Tanjung Ria on June 22, highlighting the program's broad reach.
