PAM JAYA says Jakarta's tap water remains safe amid ash
Jakarta, Sept. 8 -- Jakarta's public water utility, PAM JAYA, said the capital city's piped water remains safe to drink and meets national standards despite weather conditions and volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.
PAM JAYA President Director Arief Nasrudin said water quality is checked regularly to ensure supplies meet health standards set by Indonesia's Health Ministry Regulation No. 2 of 2023.
"PAM JAYA ensures piped drinking water undergoes treatment and quality controls before reaching customers," Arief said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The monitoring covers the entire supply chain, from raw-water sources and treatment facilities to water ready for distribution through the pipeline network, he said.
