Jakarta, May 15 -- Over 6,000 domestic and foreign visitors thronged tourism destinations in Jakarta's Thousand Islands region during the 4-day Ascension Day long weekend period, as of Thursday (May 14), according to the region's tourism office.

"We recorded 6,252 domestic and foreign tourists visited destinations in the region through several departure points during the day," Thousand Islands' Tourism and Creative Economy Office Head Sonti Pangaribuan stated on Friday.

A total of 3,719 tourists departed for the Thousand Islands from Muara Angke Port, while 1,594 tourists sailed from Baywalk Port, and 946 others departed from Tanjung Pasir Port.
