Indonesia, Oct. 28 -- Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman conveyed the commitment to restoring the glory of Indonesia's spices by making North Maluku the world's spice hub.

"North Maluku has extraordinary potential as an epicenter for the development of plantation commodities, spices such as nutmeg and cloves, as well as coconuts, commodities that have long made eastern Indonesia a node in world trade," he noted on Tuesday.

At the North Maluku Province coordination meeting on plantation downstreaming, he stated that his ministry is determined to restore this glory within a modern economic framework through downstreaming and industrializing plantations.
