Jakarta, March 10 -- Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed that subsidized fuel prices will remain steady through Eid al-Fitr in mid-March, even though global crude oil prices have soared to above US$100 per barrel.
According to him, he had discussed the subsidy issue with Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
"Regarding fuel subsidies, there will be no increase until Eid al-Fitr. We ensure that amidst the global crude oil prices increase, subsidies remain the same," he said before attending the limited meeting at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday.
On the same occasion, Minister Purbaya explained that the budget for fuel subsidies, especially during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, remains secure.
