Jakarta, Aug. 9 -- Mount Ibu in Halmahera Barat, North Maluku, erupted nine times in the past 12 hours, with volcanic ash columns ranging between 400 and 700 meters above the peak.

The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded the ninth eruption on early Saturday at 00:57 a.m. local time, with the column height observed at approximately 400 meters above the summit, or 1,725 meters above sea level.

An officer at the Mount Ibu Volcano Observation Post (PGA), Axl Roeroe, stated on Saturday that the volcanic activity was recorded on a seismograph, with a maximum amplitude of 28 millimeters and a duration of 48 seconds.
