Jakarta, Aug. 13 -- Indonesia has launched "The Nation's Founders" commemorative stamp series featuring national heroes and the architects of Indonesia's independence ahead of the 80th independence anniversary.

According to Culture Minister Fadli Zon, commemorative stamps are issued to relive national history and preserve it "as an important part of our nation's collective memory."

"Stamps and philately objects are portraits or cultural materials that can be an inseparable part of portraying historical events," the minister said during the launch of the stamps at the Formulation of Independence Proclamation Museum in Jakarta on Tuesday.
