Jakarta, April 2 -- Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat urged universities to implement the recommendations to prevent and protect women from violence within the higher education environment.

Those recommendations were given by the National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan) to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in late February 2026 to strengthen women's protection mechanisms.

In a statement on Thursday, Moerdijat explained that mechanisms to prevent and protect women from violence on campus must be continuously refined to ensure a safe and supportive educational environment.
