Jakarta, July 31 -- Indonesia's climate efforts can protect the environment while creating opportunities for economic growth, investment and jobs, Deputy People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Eddy Soeparno said, as the government strengthens its carbon market framework.

Speaking at a news conference in Jakarta on Thursday, Eddy said climate change was not only an environmental issue but also a threat to Indonesia's economy and national security.

"This requires solutions beyond business as usual, while energy transition and reforestation are now non-negotiable paths," he said.
