Jakarta, Oct. 3 -- The Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning is encouraging the adoption of low-carbon aquaculture to open up access for Indonesian seafood products, particularly tilapia, to premium export markets like the United States and Canada.

The ministry's Deputy for Food, Natural Resources, and Environmental Affairs, Leonardo Adypurnama, said in North Sumatra on Friday that global demand for seafood traceability is on the rise.

This is because market traceability now extends beyond simply knowing where a product originates, it also requires verifying that production methods are sustainable.
