Jakarta, Oct. 3 -- Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has called for stronger involvement of regional public hospitals (RSUDs) in supporting the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS), a key initiative to strengthen Indonesia's healthcare system.
During a meeting with Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto at his office in Jakarta, Karnavian emphasized the importance of removing internship fees for prospective specialist doctors.
"This would not only ease the burden on intern doctors, but also improve the quality of hospital services," he said, according to a statement released Friday.
Karnavian stated he would issue a circular to follow up on the discussion.
