Jakarta, Oct. 10 -- Indonesia's Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi asked application companies to oversee compliance with vehicle safety standards for online motorcycle taxi drivers ( ojol ) in strengthening protection in the digital platform-based transportation ecosystem.

"If it has become public transportation, it means there must be safety standards, such as helmets, vehicle maintenance; and application companies must also oversee this maintenance," Purwagandhi confirmed here on Saturday.

He stressed that fulfilling the rights and obligations of all parties in the digital platform-based transportation ecosystem must go hand in hand with safety as the top priority.
