Jakarta, Aug. 16 -- Indonesia's Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf has called on his ministry to strengthen efforts to deliver tangible community benefits through the government's Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) program as it is a key initiative aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty.

The tuition-free school schemeis part of the Indonesian government's priority programs and is being promoted to mark the 80th anniversary of Independence Day.

Speaking at the 80th Independence Day celebration, held on Friday at the ministry's Sekolah Rakyat Park, he described the program as a critical tool to eradicate poverty and emphasized the need for stronger collaboration within the ministry.
