Jakarta, April 9 -- Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is addressing the issue of permit faced by PT GBKEK Industri Park, the manager of the Galang Batang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bintan Island, Riau Islands Province.

"This is about the change in function and release of forest areas for the development of the Galang Batang SEZ, an issue which has not been followed up since its proposal in 2022," Purbaya at the debottlenecking canal complaint hearing in Jakarta on Thursday.

The Galang Batang SEZ is planned to be developed as a center for the processing industry for mineral mining products and their derivative products, both from refineries and smelters.
