Jakarta, Aug. 28 -- Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian stated that 80 percent of regional leaders elected in the latest regional election have no prior leadership experience. He therefore called on President Prabowo Subianto to provide guidance in addressing this condition.
Karnavian made the statement during the 2025 National District Leaders Association (Apkasi) Autonomy Expo on Thursday. He confirmed that 548 regional leaders were elected as of February 2025, with 80 percent lacking experience in executive positions such as governor, deputy district head, or mayor.
"Only 20 percent of them have experience. So indeed, the 80 percent need directives from Mr. President," Karnavian said.
