Jakarta, Sept. 18 -- KRI Sriwijaya commander-designate Col. Fuad Hasan recounted his experience sailing through the Red Sea aboard the Italian aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi with Italian Navy personnel.

"Regarding our passage through the Middle East, the Red Sea remains a security concern," Fuad told reporters near the Giuseppe Garibaldi, docked at Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Friday.

Fuad said the ship departed Italy on August 24, 2026, for Indonesia, passing through the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and Gulf of Aden.

"These three waterways are areas of concern for maritime security," he said.
