Jakarta, March 24 -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said acute GERD was one of the considerations in placing former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas under house arrest.

KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu said on Tuesday that a health assessment showed Yaqut had undergone an endoscopy and colonoscopy.

"We inform that one of the results of the health assessment is that he suffers from acute GERD and has previously undergone an endoscopy and colonoscopy," Asep said in Jakarta.

Yaqut also has asthma.

"This is one of the considerations, aside from being part of the strategy to ensure the case proceeds smoothly," Asep said.
