Jakarta, Aug. 4 -- State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 1 Jakarta recorded 34 train-related accidents involving vehicles at level crossings from January to July 2025.

"Violations at railway crossings remain one of the main causes of train-related accidents," KAI Daop 1 Jakarta spokesperson Ixfan Hendriwintoko stated on Monday.

In response, KAI has intensified its public safety awareness campaigns at high-risk areas throughout its Jakarta operational region. These efforts involve local communities, rail enthusiast groups, and relevant government agencies.

Ixfan expressed hope that these campaigns would raise public awareness about the dangers of ignoring crossing barriers.
