Jakarta, Aug. 19 -- State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is developing a dedicated train service for farmers and small traders to improve access to markets, enhance trade mobility, and support regional economic growth.
KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba said Tuesday the service aims to provide a safer, more spacious, and efficient transportation option for moving agricultural goods.
"KAI continues to innovate based on real public needs," Purba said.
One of the company's latest initiatives is modifying Economy Class Passenger Trains (K3) to serve farmers and traders. The work is currently underway at the Balai Yasa Surabaya Gubeng Technical Operations Unit, she added.
