Badung, Bali, Oct. 10 -- Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas stated that journalistic works are now recognized as falling under the copyright regime, thereby possessing economic value, including the potential to earn royalties.

However, further details regarding the mechanism for royalty distribution will be addressed through implementing regulations.

"In general, our legal policy recognizes journalistic works as copyrightable material. That is the crucial first step; as for implementation, much of that will be determined in the implementing regulations," Agtas said in Badung District, Bali, on Saturday.
