Melbourne, Aug. 26 -- Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Jakarta Treaty 2026, a joint security agreement between Australia and Indonesia, is intended to be further strengthened for the benefit of future generations in both countries.

During a 2+2 meeting of the Indonesian and Australian Foreign and Defense Ministers, Minister Wong noted the Jakarta Treaty 2026 represents a new level in Indonesia-Australia relations.

"We see the Jakarta Treaty as an agreement that will continue to evolve for future generations in Indonesia and Australia," Wong said in Melbourne, Australia, on Wednesday.
