Jakarta sets up backup traffic system after command center fire
Jakarta, Aug. 9 -- The Jakarta Provincial Government is setting up a backup traffic control system after a major fire severely damaged the province's main transportation command center late Friday (August 7).
"I have coordinated with the head of the Transportation Office, and we agreed to use the data and information center on MT Haryono Street as a backup operations center," Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said on Sunday.
The blaze, which engulfed the upper floors of the Jakarta Revenue Agency building, forced the Jakarta Transportation Office's Command Center on the 16th floor offline.
The facility remotely monitors and manages traffic across the capital, including coordinating road access for high-level dignitaries.
