Jakarta, Aug. 21 -- Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) confirmed that no major structural damage was recorded following a 4.9-magnitude earthquake that rattled Bekasi and the Greater Jakarta area on Wednesday (August 20).

"Around 26 houses sustained minor damage, mostly older structures lacking steel frames. In addition, a school reported a ceiling collapse," BNPB Head Suharyanto stated in Jakarta on Thursday.

He confirmed that the earthquake caused no fatalities.

BNPB has dispatched a team to inspect post-earthquake conditions in affected regions, including Karawang District in West Java, located east of Bekasi District, where the quake's epicenter was located.
