Jakarta, Dec. 16 -- Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has ordered the City Parks and Forests Department to prune aging trees across the capital as a preemptive safety measure against recent high-velocity winds.

The governor on Tuesday emphasized that while the city is actively trimming vulnerable trees, the sheer unpredictability of localized storms remains a significant challenge.

"I have instructed the Parks Department to tidy up all aging trees," Pramono said. "However, even with these efforts, it can be insufficient because we cannot always predict the path of a whirlwind, such as the recent strikes in Ancol and Sunda Kelapa."
