Jakarta, May 18 -- Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has opened the possibility of extending the LRT Jakarta route to the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 area and a direct connection to Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Airport.

"Earlier I talked to the CEO of Agung Sedayu, perhaps it is time to open the LRT from Velodrome (station) all the way to this place (PIK 2)," Anung said while inaugurating the Tian Fu Gong temple area in PIK, here on Sunday.

The plan is considered an important part of perfecting mass transportation connectivity in Jakarta through a loop system or integrated routes.

Anung explained that the ongoing LRT Jakarta development has obtained central government approval for its track up to Ancol.
