Jakarta aims for Net Zero Emissions by 2050, focuses on mobility
Jakarta, Aug. 20 -- The Jakarta Provincial Government is aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2030 as part of its long-term strategy to reach Net Zero Emissions by 2050.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that the transportation sector remains the primary focal point of the decarbonization roadmap, as it currently contributes 52 percent of the capital's total direct emissions.
"Jakarta needs a mobility system that expands access, boosts productivity, reduces emissions, and connects the metropolitan area as a single economic entity," Pramono stated during the Indonesia International Transport Summit (IITS) 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday.
