Jakarta, June 18 -- Jakarta's provincial government plans to partner with Netflix to support its ambition of becoming a cinema city, with the collaboration expected to strengthen the film industry, create jobs and attract more visitors.

Deputy Governor Rano Karno said the initiative was part of a broader strategy to develop the film industry and other creative economy sectors while generating tangible economic benefits for the Indonesian capital.

Speaking in a statement on Thursday, Rano said the city was committed to building long-term cooperation with Netflix following talks held during the Asia Pacific Video Operators Summit in Bali on June 18.
