Jakarta, Sept. 27 -- The Indonesian Navy's warship KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata (REM)-331 carried out a combat simulation exercise in the Banda Sea, Maluku Province, on Thursday, aiming to sharpen its readiness to defend national waters.

In a press release received here Saturday, the Navy said the drill simulated simultaneous attacks from both air and underwater forces, during which REM331 deployed all onboard weapon systems.

Navy Spokesperson Rear Admiral Tunggul confirmed the exercise proceeded smoothly.

He said the ship's arsenal, including the 76mm Leonardo super rapid gun, 35mm millennium gun, and 20mm Vector gun, were all engaged to counter medium-and close-range threats.
